Фигура Джерарда О’Тоала весьма примечательна и серьезно выделяется вряду исследователей геополитики. Интерес представляет основательный и весьма разносторонний вклад ученого в теорию геополитики и анализ конкретных геополитических кейсов. Между тем в России его работы и взгляды на геополитику, хотя и не являются совершенно неизвестными для научного сообщества, до сих пор получали значительно меньше внимания, чем, возможно, заслуживают того. Как следствие одной из целей настоящей статьи представляется ре-актуализация творчества Дж. О’Тоала, что, в свою очередь, может способствовать выявлению точек продуктивного соприкосновения между его концептуальным видением и теми вопросами, которые ставит перед собой отечественная геополитическая традиция.

G.Ó. Tuathail’s fi gure is quite notable and prominent among researchers in geopolitics. His fundamental and multi-faceted contribution to the theory of geopolitics and analysis of concretegeopolitical cases are interesting. However, although his works and views on geopolitics are not absolutely unknown in Russia’s academic community, they have probably received much less attention than they deserve. Th is article’s aim is to re-actualize G.Ó. Tuathail’s works, which could facilitate the identifying points of coincidence between his conceptual vision and the issues raised by Russian geopolitical tradition.
